February Trip to Monterrey

This trip was not on a whim and was actually planned long before the Utah trip that preceded it. We like to travel as these posts will attest. We had originally planned to go Thursday through Saturday, but since the youth snow/sledding trip rescheduled date was the Saturday we were supposed to be in Monterrey, Matt chivalrously called the hotel and shifted our trip up a day and we left on Wednesday. It seems so simple when I condense it like that but it really was a huge ordeal and I was quite stressed. With the switch we got home on Friday night. Men's simple thought processes are so helpful at times.

The first full day we were there, Thursday, was beautiful weather. We first drove the famous 17-mile drive of the coast. It is amazing coastline, don’t get me wrong, but I felt like I had such high expectations that I was a bit disappointed. Nonetheless, it was fun and I am glad to say that I did the drive.

Afterward, we went to the huge park in the city center called Dennis the Menace park. It was awesome. If only Todd had been walking by then. It would have been a blast for him. Matt really enjoyed himself as you can imagine.

For those parents out there you can relate who drastically your pace changes on vacations when you have children. This was the point in the day when Matt really wanted to go to beach since it had turned out to be such a nice day. What he didn’t realize was that it was high time for his son’s nap. So we went back to the hotel and let Todd take a very long three hour nap. By the time he was done it was dark and dinnertime. So to lighten Matt’s spirits and disappointment we went to go get swim diapers so we could all go swimming. It was in the box of diapers we picked up these beauties.

Our last day we went to the famous Monterrey Bay Aquarium. It was amazing, but unfortunately this was the only picture we have to show for it. I am not even sure what this picture is of. A shark? Our plans to take pictures outside were foiled when we came out and it was raining.

Thanks for a great trip Matt!
